Megalith-Corridor Matrix
The Megalith-Corridor Matrix is a structured tabulation of the archive's 27 documented megalithic sites against their territorial-grid cell, corridor assignment, site anchor, and relationship type. It is the companion artifact to the Megalith-Corridor Mapping doctrine (doctrine-megalith-corridor-mapping) and is intended as a reference document for gap-sweep analysis and survey planning.
Structure
Each row maps one megalithic site to a single territorial-grid cell. The cell IDs follow the conventions established in the Global Territorial Grid artifact (artifact-global-territorial-grid). The corridor field records the named corridor segment assigned in each site's /megaliths/ file. The anchor ID field records the archive site anchor to which the megalith is cross-linked. The relationship type field uses three categories as defined in the Megalith-Corridor Mapping doctrine: anchor (site at or immediately adjacent to a confirmed torpor or geothermal node), marker (default; site within a corridor cell encoding territorial-grid spatial information without confirmed node proximity), and bypass-node (site on a documented transit corridor between two anchors, substrate signature transit-compatible rather than residence-primary).
Scope and Limitations
The matrix covers all 27 megalith files currently in /megaliths/ (Africa: 6; Americas: 6; Asia: 6; Europe: 8; Oceania: 2; plus one non-markdown file excluded). Relationship-type assignment is the archive's working classification based on each site's substrate documentation, cultural-record depth, and spatial position within the grid cell. All relationship-type assignments carry confidence level speculative unless the underlying site anchor independently carries a confirmed or consensus-confidence classification. Several cells appear more than once in the matrix because multiple megalithic sites share the same cell (notably eur-02 with five entries and sam-01 with four entries); this reflects genuine monument density within those cells, not a data error. The anchor-ID field links to archive site files that provide the primary substrate and cultural-record evidence supporting each classification. The matrix does not capture all megalithic sites globally — it covers only those currently atomized to /megaliths/ files — and is expected to grow as the atomization program continues.
Claims
c0001 — The matrix covers 27 megaliths across 20 territorial-grid cells
The current matrix tabulates 27 megalithic sites distributed across 20 distinct territorial-grid cells. The discrepancy between site count and cell count reflects multi-site clustering in high-significance cells: eur-02 contains five sites (Stonehenge, Avebury, Newgrange, Orkney, Carnac is the adjacent eur-pr-celtic-fringe cell), sam-01 contains four sites (Chavín de Huántar, Sacsayhuamán, Ollantaytambo, Nazca Lines), and nam-06 contains two sites (Cahokia, Poverty Point). Multi-site cells are consistently those with the strongest combined substrate and cultural-record evidence, consistent with the territorial-grid-model's prediction that high-habitability cells attract disproportionate custodial monument-building activity.
c0002 — Marker relationship is the most common classification (16/27)
Of the 27 classified sites, 16 carry a marker relationship type (approximately 59%), 8 carry anchor (approximately 30%), and 3 carry bypass-node (approximately 11%). The marker-dominant distribution reflects the structure of the territorial grid: most cells in the grid contain one or more territorial-marker events but only a fraction carry confirmed-anchor substrate nodes. The anchor fraction (30%) is elevated relative to random expectation, reflecting the selection effect whereby the current megalith corpus concentrates at the archive's highest-evidence cells.
