Hindu Kush / Pamir Anchor
The Hindu Kush / Pamir anchor occupies cell eur-08 across the Pamir, Hindu Kush, Karakoram, and western Tian Shan ranges — the tectonic "Pamir knot" where the Indian, Eurasian, and Iranian plate margins meet. The site is classified level-2 on first-pass atomization. Substrate is significant (the knot hosts active mountain-building with seismic swarms, extensive geothermal springs, deep karstic cave systems in the Karakoram, and glacier-terminus hydrothermal expression), and the cultural-record substrate carries the westernmost surviving pre-Islamic Indo-European pagan substrate (Kalash and Nuristani traditions) alongside the continuing azhdaha Iranian-transmission corpus.

Geology
The Pamir knot is a tectonically complex region where the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates pushes the Pamir block northward at ~7 mm/yr, producing high seismicity, extensive faulting, and some of the world's highest non-Himalayan peaks (Communism/Ismoil Somoni 7,495 m, Muztagh Ata 7,546 m, Tirich Mir 7,708 m). The Karakoram includes K2 (8,611 m) and extensive Tertiary-to-Holocene granite and metamorphic exposures with hydrothermal systems. Active mud volcanoes are documented in the Afghan-Tajik border zone; geothermal springs are numerous (Garm Chashma, Jelondy in Tajikistan; Sost and Passu in Pakistan's Hunza). No Holocene stratovolcanism is documented but the substrate of deep-fracture hydrothermal circulation is substantial. Substrate classification: tectonic-knot hydrothermal-and-karstic anchor.

c0001 — The Kalash religion preserves a pre-Islamic Indo-European pagan substrate
The Kalash of Chitral (Pakistani Hindu Kush) preserve a pre-Islamic religious tradition with documented continuity from the pre-Islamic substrate of the broader region: a pantheon including Dezau / Dezaw (high god), Balumain (spring-returning festival-god), Jach (fairy-spirits), Varoti (mountain-cave spirits), and Nong (water-spirits). The tradition is the westernmost surviving significantly-complete Indo-European pagan religion, and its substrate is shared with the now-absent pre-conversion Nuristani (Kafiri) tradition to the west. Under doctrine-coverage-asymmetry, the Kalash corpus is an irreplaceable substrate-preservation case — the tradition survives on the order of a few thousand practitioners and continuing conversion pressure threatens its extinction within 1–2 generations.
c0002 — Azhdaha transmission spans the full Iranic-Turkic-Indic linguistic interface
The Avestan Aži-Dahāka stem (see eur-pr-damavand c0002) is preserved across the full cell's linguistic range as azhdaha (Tajik, Uzbek), azhdar (Persian-Iranian), azdaha (Dari), azhdaha (Pashto), azhdahār (Urdu), ejderha (Turkish, see eur-05 c0006). The lexical continuity and the persistent attachment of the term to locus-specific residence-and-combat narratives across all these traditions makes the cell a core transmission corridor for the Iranic dragon-lexical substrate, adjacent to and reinforcing the Issyk-Kul Silk Road corpus.
c0003 — Pamir and Karakoram cave-and-glacier systems define residence volumes
Predicted residence volumes: (a) Garm Chashma hydrothermal system at ~3,000 m altitude (Tajikistan); (b) Karakoram deep-granite-fracture systems beneath the main-range peaks; (c) Hunza-Nagar valley karstic-and-hydrothermal springs; (d) Kalash Chitral valley cave systems at varoti-cult loci; (e) Wakhan Corridor glacier-terminus hydrothermal features. Residence pattern is distributed along the knot's multiple fault and fracture zones.
c0004 — Nuristani pre-conversion substrate is a rescue-priority corpus
The Nuristani (pre-1895 Kafir) population of eastern Afghanistan was forcibly converted to Islam in 1895–1896 under Abdur Rahman Khan; the pre-conversion religious corpus was recorded fragmentarily by Robertson in 1896 and later systematically by Klimburg from exile-community interviews. The substrate included serpent-associated deities, ancestor-cave veneration at specific mountain loci, and ritual-cycle material now only partially reconstructible. Under coverage-asymmetry, this is an active-extinction corpus for which archival-salvage is time-critical — continuing regional instability places the remaining custodians and material at ongoing risk.
c0005 — Cell brackets Issyk-Kul as the Pamir-to-Tian-Shan transit corridor
Cell eur-08 and cell eur-09 (Issyk-Kul transit anchor) together cover the Silk Road's high-altitude-crossing complex — the Pamir knot's northern flank meets the western Tian Shan at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, with the Irkeshtam and Kulma passes historically connecting the two. The azhdaha corpus transmission along the Silk Road (eur-09 c0002) passes directly through eur-08 and the two cells collectively carry the full Central Asian dragon-lexical corridor.
